Weekly Astrology Overview March 28th – April 3rd 2011

28th – Jupiter in Aries opposite Saturn in Libra

30th – Mercury stationary to retrograde in Aries

1st April – Venus sextile Pluto

2nd April – mars into Aries

3rd April – new Moon in Aries conjunct Jupiter, opposite Saturn in Libra; Mars conjunct Uranus in Aries.

April is a busy month in the heavens, lots to pack in, planet wise, with a particular focus on the sign of Aries; and this week gives an idea of what’s to come, beginning with a Jupiter/Saturn opposition, exact on the 28th March, but in effect through the first week or so of April, due to the slow speed of the two planets.

An opposition is where two planets stand at opposite ends of the zodiac; in this case Jupiter sits in the single minded sign of Aries, and Saturn sits in partnership orientated Libra. The two signs are very different, and so are the planets… Jupiter, planet of opportunity and expansion, as opposed to Saturn, planet of limits and boundaries.

It can indicate clashes and disputes as different perspectives bang into one another and fight for dominance, but therein lies the key to handling opposition – BOTH sides need to be recognized and respected in order to achieve a movement forward, until then, there’s a see saw effect of ups and downs in situations, or in the feeling of balance within the self.

On the 30th Mercury slows to stationary, ready to retrograde in the sign of Aries. Mercury is the communication planet, as well as ruling roads and pathways; and retrograde phases are about a necessary change of direction or change of perspective in order to move forward. Mercury in Aries normally can’t bear to take the scenic route when there’s a point to get to, but Mercury retrograde in Aries has a sense that sometimes a diversion is necessary in the long run.

On the 1st April, Venus in Pisces makes a friendly sextile aspect to Pluto in Capricorn (Yes, even Pluto has a friendly side!); and it indicates strong feeling in relationship coming to the surface, that encourages structure and healthy boundaries where it was previously less than defined.

On the 2nd April, Mars moves into the sign of Aries, which it rules. This makes for a powerful shift in momentum and motivation in situations – Mars is about action and Aries doesn’t waste a second. Mars knows the power of its desire and in Aries can’t resist the courage of its conviction.

This week’s planet aspects all provide a foundation for the energy of the new moon in Aries on the 3rd. Sitting opposite Saturn in Libra, and right next to Jupiter, the new moon speaks of opportunity within the current limits of circumstances. It means opportunities can happen despite any limiting circumstances.

Also within this new moon energy on the 3rd, Mars meets Uranus, meaning there might be action taken on impulse that breaks with routines or old patterns of behavior. Mars/Uranus is about very strong desire for individual freedom, and is utterly uncompromising in its approach… this kind of energy doesn’t ask twice and doesn’t feel the need to say please.
