‘Our psyche is set up in accord with the structure of the universe, and what happens in the macrocosm likewise happens in the infinitesimal and most subjective reaches of the psyche.’
Carl Jung

It’s that time again – when we lose those files we neglected to back up, where our communication devices appear to have a life and an agenda or their own (which incidentally does not coincide with ours). When our cars seem out to spite us, travel snafus occur and for whatever reason what we are saying just goes astray or is somehow misunderstood. Yes, Mercury Madness is set to rule for the next three weeks as the planet of communication and getting around goes retrograde in powerful Scorpio. So what’s good about this? I hear you ask. Well, for one thing Scorpio is the sign of transformation. Mercury retrograde is all about re-vising, re-envisioning, re-turning and a favourite Scorpio theme – re-birth. Under this influence you can re-frame your past to bring about healing or to create a new framework for the future. You can look to projects you have put on the backburner and during the retrograde period revise them to have new re-levance. Yes, any word that begins with ‘re’ is what this period helps you with. If you are a job seeker it is a good time to revisit your re-sume but resume that job search after Mercury shifts to forward motion unless of course you are re-applying to a company you have either approached or worked for before. Of course, if you are unemployed then this advice should be ignored – but be prepared that if you receive a job offer from a fresh source under a Mercury retro you will more than likely not stay there for long and will have to re-turn to your search. While on the subject of returns – people and things you have lost can re-appear under this influence so keep a look out for anything from keys to old lovers or connection reappearing when you thought they had gone for good.

Inspiration is ours thanks to the Orionids meteors which appear over the 21st – 22nd and these start to build on the themes of how the world reflects our inner state which we are also seeing this week. The Sun enters Scorpio on the 23rd which brings the total number of planets in there up to three (yes, for you Virgos out there – the Sun is considered a planet in astrology even though we are aware it is a star, thank-you). Saturn is in here for a long stay of course and there to bring about transformations whose time has come on an inner and outer level. This begins with the Grand Water Trine of the 24th – a massive day in the sky which also sees a Mystic Rectangle and the ascension of a double Kite aspect. This double Kite plus the Mystic Rectangle contains Pluto – ruler of Scorpio, Mars Scorpio’s ancient ruler in earthly Virgo, the Moon in its own sign of nurturing Cancer and Neptune also in its own sign and still in orb of Chiron which rules higher learning and spiritual truths. We will most likely see how our collective attitudes are a reflection of what is happening in our world but on a deeper level there is an opportunity here to course correct beginning on an individual level. Our relationship to the environment could be in focus and we will be called to become more responsible. This begins by taking responsibility for our internal environment.

Look up at the night sky if you can this week and think of what you see as reflected, limitless potential. Now, wouldn’t you rather be operating from a vast, wondrous belief system which reflects that or polluted, cluttered constraint? The thing is – you already do. All you have to do to realise that this week is choose to believe it.
