Remember, remember the fifth of November

The gunpowder treason and plot –

Milton’s poem recalls the gunpowder plot of 1605 when a group led by Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up parliament. November 5 – ‘Bonfire Night’ in the UK, is still commemorated with bonfires and fireworks. November 5 this year sees the US General Election take place. Just as a Mercury retroshadow commences in Sagittarius (6^th). As any of us who are familiar with Mercury mayhem, we know this can lead to reversals, recounts, outages, delays and possibly cries of ‘treason and plot!’ as the story goes back and forth.

Mars enters Leo the day before the election. It is also slowing down in preparation for full retrograde in here – which will also see it reverse back into the sign of Cancer. Mars in Leo boosts pride and confidence. But it can also result in egos that are out of control, as well as grandiosity and entitlement. Not so much ‘I’m worth it’, but ‘I deserve it’ – no matter what. Sore losers? We could see those as well.

Mercury rules communication, paperwork (those voting slips!), the internet while Sagittarius rules everything Mercury does – but bigger. So think mass media and big reach. We all need to watch for fake news, clickbait, conspiracies and basically disinformation under this. And expect shifting stories. If you are in the US – the only thing you know for certain is how you cast your vote on this day. And please do use it. Your voice and vote has never been more important as Pluto is about to move into Aquarius – the sign of the people. Plus we all know we live in an interconnected world. What happens in one country doesn’t just affect it and its people. It has a ripple effect across the world. That’s another reason why this election is so important.

Take it that it may take longer for the dust to settle than usual under these influences. The 9^th sees a tight square form between Venus in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces. There may be a conflict or tension between what we might want to believe and what is in fact, the truth. If we are ‘wedded’ to one idea or outcome, Juno in Scorpio says we may not want to let this go easily. Even if the facts begin to emerge that tell us the result isn’t what we wanted to hear.

On the day of the election, Uranus retrograde in Taurus will be in direct opposition to Venus in the United States natal chart. Uranus being the planet of revolution. Yes, countries have charts just like people. The Sun in Scorpio will have moved two degrees past a sextile with the United States natal Sun and be three degrees off a sextile with natal Ceres in Capricorn. A new deal could just be on the table. Minus treason and plot. Give it time to emerge.

In a nutshell: A pivotal week planetary wise coincides with the US General Election. As we say in astrology: As above – so below. Mercury retrograde tells us there may be delays and recounts before we see the result. This applies to our own plans as well.
