Make that ‘re’ word retro checklist

Second time around opportunities feature

Don’t insist on having it all your own way

Things go backwards and forwards under a Mercury retrograde. And often more than once. It all adds to the unpredictable and unsettled vibe that the planet of commerce, movement and communication creates. Situations change. Then change again. Contradictions and retractions feature. Redacted is another good Mercury retro word. Anything with ‘re’ in front of it applies.

Yes, this also includes revisits and reappearances. Something we wanted rings twice. Opportunities represents itself. Someone we knew reaches out. You can make yourself a list of ‘re’ words using an on-line dictionary and then see just how many you experience (and re-experience), as Mercury goes backwards and forwards in the sky. And yes, this includes its retroshadow phases as well as the main retrograde itself.

The unexpected and unanticipated applies here. Venus’s trine to Uranus (2^nd) adds that element. But its Mercury’s trine to Chiron in Aries and its opposition to Jupiter that are the big ones to watch. Both of these are second time around transits. And the angles will form for a third time when Mercury heads direct once again later this month. So, take it that this could be a start – followed by another stop sign. With the final answer or resolution still to come. Unless the signature is on the dotted line or the money is in your account – you are advised not to count your chickens yet. Or even have the eggs in one basket.

Mercury is also squaring Saturn in Pisces as it moves back and forth. Saturn always asks for structure, stability and honestly, playing by the rules. It wants us to apply what we have learned from our past. And not to repeat mistakes. If we don’t, Saturn keeps us stuck in a time loop. It’s all a bit Groundhog Day. In fact, that’s a great Mercury retro/Saturn movie to stream if you find yourself restricted (another ‘re’ word). What can you do different? When we demonstrate what we’ve learned, we get released from the pattern. And get a different result.

Resist (re word again!), the impulsion to rush into anything. That includes last minute dashes to the airport without preparing. Or entering into agreements or contracts without going through the fine print. Sagittarius rules the law so if in any doubt at all – seek legal advice.

Adding to our tendency to act on impulse or simply get our way, this week sees Mars begin a rare retrograde in Leo. We may be coming from a place of ego and not seeing the bigger picture. And our egos can mislead us into thinking we can push the universe around and change the cosmos to our liking. The problem with that being the universe is too big to push around. And it can quickly cut us down to size.

Mars retro in Leo can see parents having to deal with head-strong teenagers. Yes, exploring self-assertion is part of adolescence. But good parenting demands we know where and when to set boundaries. And also teach that actions have consequences. Something we all need to keep in mind no matter what age we are. This Mars retrograde favours reinjecting creative projects with fresh passion. And also taking responsibility if we have allowed passion to fizzle out in our relationship. However, if the light has been snuffed out permanently, there is no rekindling it. Venus changes signs this week along with Ceres. Both arrive in Aquarius across the 7^th – 8^th respectively. Venus encounters Pluto the day it arrives. Friendships, communities, groups and movements may show us their power and their value. We begin to see our non-romantic connections in a new way. Not as some silver medal love we ‘make do’ with while we wait for the gold of romance. But equal or even more valid and lasting. Ask anyone who has forged enduring friendships which have outlasted romantic partnerships and marriages. From next week onwards, there’s a new love deal on the table for all of us.

In a nutshell: Mercury retro can bring us returns and re-runs. Revivals and second time around opportunities. Don’t fall prey to impatience or your ego pushing you to speed things up. Mars now joining the retro party tells you – check your desire to make it happen your way.
