Happy Solstice Birthday, Capricorn!

This month’s new (1^st) and full (15^th) Moons occur across the Sagittarius/Gemini axis. Jupiter – Sagittarius’ ruler, is in Gemini and Mercury (ruler of Gemini) is in Sag but retrograde. However, this means that both Jupiter and Mercury are in mutual reception (and more than once). So in astrological terms we say they are talking to each other. Both Moons impact Jupiter and both square Saturn in Pisces. This all adds up to us planning to take steps based on concrete, well-thought out plans.

Naturally, this doesn’t mean we can bin the Mercury retrograde guidelines. However, the mutual reception dates with Jupiter (the 4th and 26th) offer a brief window of relief. There is another kind of retrograde in motion this month and that is Mars in Leo from the 6^th. Unlike Mercury which heads backwards three times a year, Mars only retros approximately once every two. Therefore it can catch us unawares. Minor Issues can turn into full blown frustrations which spill over into conflict. Over stuff we would normally either shrug and ignore or address in a reasonable way.

We might also be in so much of a hurry – again down to actual delays and wanting to make up for lost time, or simply impatience, we neglect the bigger picture. Or even what’s going on around us. So, mistakes and accidents can occur. Or we end up needing to apologise. The only remedy for this is to check our emotional temperatures and slow down.

Venus and Ceres enter Aquarius this month and both will encounter Pluto – now freshly unpacked for a long term stay. We may transform our ideas around the love of friendships, groups and communities. A new dynamic can emerge. And yes, our goals can receive a massive injection of empowered determination and priority.

Aligning ourselves with others with similar goals and visions can form the basis of highly beneficial friendships. But also enable all parties to attain their goals. Instead of opting for the traditional form of ‘cuffing season’ this year – why not seek out and attach yourself to like minded friends instead? Others may find the holidays are richer, more peaceful and in the true spirit of the season when they opt to celebrate with friends.

The Sun reaches Capricorn on the 21^st. Bringing us the shortest day of the year and winter in the Northern Hemisphere, and the longest day and the start of summer in the Southern. The Sun appears to stop in the sky. The year pivots. We look back at what we’ve achieved this year. And then forward to where we want to go next.

Oh, and birthday Capricorn, this is for you! Pluto has bid farewell to your sign for this lifetime, granting you enhanced control over finances, self-worth, and abundance. It will challenge how you manage these gains. By 2025, Saturn and Neptune enter Aries, while Uranus shifts into Gemini, inspiring fresh approaches to work, wellness, and ideas. Jupiter’s move into Cancer brings Big Love, offering relationship renewal or new romantic opportunities.
