0o Aries marks the very start of the 360o degree wheel of stars that is the zodiac. It is a point of inception and creation. Any major planetary alignment which occurs at the zero point unleashes the birth of something new.
When this involves the luminaries – the Sun and Moon, or personal planets – Mercury, Venus and Mars, then we can expect a personal rebirth or something new appearing in our lives. When the conjunction involves any of the social planets – Jupiter or Saturn, or the interpersonal planets – Uranus, Neptune or Pluto, then this is no longer up close and personal. But the start of an epoch of profound change which will impact each and every single one of us. No matter where we are.
This certainly applies to the once-in-a-lifetime Saturn/Neptune conjunction of Feb 20 at 0o Aries. Saturn enters Aries on Feb 14. Saturn is the planet which represents boundaries (those rings), discipline, structure and authority. It is also the last planet in our solar system which is visible with the naked eye. So, it marks the boundary between the known and the unknown. Until the invention of telescopes, we imagined it marked the end of our solar system.
Neptune existed, the dweller on the threshold, waiting to be discovered. The portal to another realm entirely. Mystical, imaginative, sacred. Neptune dissolves boundaries and the illusion of separation. It seeks oneness. So, we have two very different energies fusing together at a point of creation.
Saturn/Neptune conjunctions no matter what sign they have taken place in, have always resulted in collective change and political upheaval. Saturn and Neptune conjunct in Capricorn saw the Berlin Wall come down. This conjunction was present at the end of both WW1 and WW2. In US history, you can find it linked to the Korean War and also the Vietnam war. But most tellingly, the US Civil War occurred when Saturn and Neptune were last conjunct in Aries. A clash of belief systems with the nation splitting into two opposing sides, each with very different ideologies on how the world should be run.
Saturn/Neptune conjunctions have also been in orb during key times in the history of other nations. Russia being another such country. Watch Putin, oligarchs and of course – Ukraine.
There’s no going back to the way the world once was. Although some people may peddle a return to ‘the good old days’ as part of their political agenda. Saturn is in its fall in Aries. Because its energy goes against Aries desire for self-individuation and action. Questions and even downright defiance around just who is in charge result in challenges and even conflicts. Especially with Neptune dissolving those barriers between both individuals and groups.
Astrology is really simply Game Theory. Game Theory is a branch of Mathematics which involves analysing the interactions of multiple players – individuals, companies and nations, and basing predictions for the future on past outcomes. It tells us the outcome for one individual is linked to the choices of others. In other words – nothing occurs in isolation. And it uses the same predictive models as astrology – which was always the science of observation. The ancients noticed things like every time that red planet appeared in a certain part of the sky, they had an argument with the tribe next door. Patterns repeat. So does history until we learn from it.
Happy birthday, Pisces! The Sun in your sign (18th) awakens you to a very different kind of reality than the foggy, boggy, vibe of both Saturn and ruler Neptune in your sign you’ve navigated these past years. Neptune has departed for good. Saturn won’t be back for another 28 years. Restrictions recede. You move with clarity and towards a new vision. You may have felt ‘all at sea’ during this time. There’s been nothing wrong with your ship, Pisces. Just that you may have felt the GPS navigation system wasn’t working properly. Stranger tides may have washed you up on unknown shores. Lucky, that’s all over now. You are master of your destiny again and free to chart your course especially when it comes to money, income and work in the coming year.
February could be history making in more ways than one if we begin it with a desire to find that win/win sweet spot. The Leo full moon (1st) trines Ceres in Aries. This is about the compromise and the Art of the Deal. Of understanding we can’t always have everything our own way – especially if it’s love and connection we seek. We have to share. Ourselves and also time in the spotlight. To allow others to have their time to shine, be celebrated and seen. Just as we also crave that validation. And often a compromise isn’t about giving something up. It’s gaining something better.
The new Moon in Aquarius (Feb 17), puts us back in eclipse season. Triggering a ‘Ring of Fire’ Annular Solar Eclipse. It ushers in the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Fire Horse. Movement and freedom. But squares Uranus – ruler of Aquarius, in Taurus. As with all eclipses, we are in the dark or something is covered up. There is a glimpse of the truth however – but then it’s gone. Or we may gaslight ourselves by thinking this is all our imagination. Uranus adds the unexpected element. The sudden, shocking surprise or upheaval we didn’t see coming. Or did we? This eclipse occurs just three days before the key Saturn/Neptune conjunction. In the sign of the collective and square the planet of revolutionary change in the sign of stability. Ready Player One, it’s a whole new game.
In a nutshell: February brings a once-in-a-lifetime conjunction between Saturn and Neptune at 0o Aries. The most powerful degree in the entire zodiac. It’s a new era in which each and every can come together to shape the world. And all of us individually has a role to play.
