I’m a dweller on the threshold
And I’m waiting at the door
And I’m standing in the darkness
I don’t want to wait no more
Van Morrison. Dweller on the Threshold
We’re going to be discussing the importance of 0o Aries a lot in the coming weeks. The very first degree of the zodiac and the point of new beginnings. When the Sun enters Aries at 0o – we have the Spring Equinox and the start of the astrological new year. Winter ends. The cycle begins again.
When a slow moving outer planet enters Aries, this always signals the end of one major era and the start of a new one. With the outer planets – Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, these planets take decades to orbit the Sun. So when one crosses the zero degree, this is not only a generational marker, but will be significant for all of us on a collective level.
Even more impactful are extremely rare occasions when two slow moving planets meet at Zero Aries. This week sees Saturn re-enter Aries (Feb 14). Saturn takes approximately 29 years to orbit the Sun. Saturn rules time, structure – symbolised by those rings, what we think of as ‘the establishment’ and karma. It is now in orb of recently arrived Neptune – also sitting at 0o Aries. Both planets are now separated by mere minutes and seconds of the degree. Next week (20th), for the first time in our lifetimes, they will from an exact conjunction. It’s Zero Hour quite literally. Ushering in a new era or events which will affect each and everyone of us on the planet.
Along with this we have Mercury conjunct the North Node and entering pre-shadow in Pisces (12th). Indicating a reckoning or accounting when it comes to collective karma or a bill ‘falling due’. We are also heading into eclipse season. Next week’s new Moon in Aquarius (sign of the collective), not only ushers in the start of the Chinese New Year of the Fire Horse, but an Annular Solar Eclipse just three days before the conjunction between Saturn and Neptune is exact. This is karma we may not see coming. Again, it indicates everyone is affected in some way. Eclipses double down on retrogrades. Don’t deviate from the retro rules. Do watch the financial markets and geopolitics.
Saturn is the planet which says ‘Time’s up’. Especially if anything or anyone has been living on ‘borrowed time’. Neptune is the planet of the theoretical. Unlike Saturn which is about clearly defined boundaries and structure, Neptune is diffuse, fathomless and undefined. We have the meeting of two very different planetary energies. Bringing together what was intangible and then making it real. Or at the very least, the consequences of believing that karmic bill would never fall due.
This week also sees Venus join Mercury in Pisces (10th). Venus rules money and finances – it is the ruler of Taurus as well as Libra. It too will entangle with the North Node and with retroactive Mercury (which rules commerce and business), all while in Neptune’s ruling sign. Triggering debits and credits from the past.
Saturn is known as ‘The Dweller on the Threshold’. It stands as guardian between the physical and material world, and the spiritual one – which is ruled by Neptune. The lyrics from Van Morrison’s song above were heavily influenced by the work of occultist Alice Bailey. One of the founders of the New Age movement. It tells of a person waiting for enlightenment, poised between illusion (Neptune) and truth (Saturn). It’s the perfect 0o Aries anthem for this pivotal conjunction.
So, this once in a lifetime meeting between the two planets sees Saturn draw down from Neptune’s realm what was unseen – but is now very real. We get to see just what that karmic or actual balance sheet looks like. For all of us. Individually or as a whole. With the highest potential to wipe the slate clean and begin again. We are on the threshold of establishing a whole new world. Or a whole new order. Owed or owning – Saturn demands accountability either way.
In a nutshell: The zero degree of Aries – the first degree of the zodiac wheel, takes a fated turn this week, with the arrival of Saturn. We are all poised on the threshold between what we know, and what is unseen, but about to become very real. This includes that karma.
